How to get Verified
BEE Online’s Verification process is an independent audit process aimed at verifying, confirming and validating the Broad-Based BEE Status of a Measured Entity. BEE Online’s Verification is the most accurate and cost effective way for businesses to establish and present their BEE status.
BEE Online provides Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment verifications. We adopt an approach of working with and educating our clients on how to conduct their first B-BBEE Audit. B-BBEE Verification is new to our clients and we have found it is important to be able to have the expertise in an agency that can walk our clients through the intricacies of their audit, in order to get it right first time and most importantly for the best possible scorecard.
Our Verifications are based on the DTI’s Broad-Based BEE Scorecard contained in the Codes of Good Practice on Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (Codes) as gazetted on 9 February 2007 and on any amendments gazetted from time to time.
Measure Entities can be verified according to the Generic Scorecard (where annual turnover is in excess of R35 million), the Qualifying Small Enterprises Scorecard (where annual is turnover between R5 million and R35 million) and as Exempt Micro Enterprises (where annual turnover is below R5 million).
BEE Online provides a full range of services relating to B-BBEE Verification. Our services have been designed and refined from past experience to ensure that our clients get every assistance in maximising their Verification Scorecard.
Our approach follows a 4 Step process once this quotation has been accepted:
Once Verification Application has been accepted, BEE will allocate verification analyst. The allocated verification analyst arrange to meet with you at your office to provide training on BBBEE and to inform you in terms of what you can claim BEE points for.
This is an important step, because if you do not understand the rules applicable to you, your score will not be a true reflection of your BEE Status.
During this meeting the analyst will show you what evidence is required for verification and leave a checklist with you to use in preparing your evidence.
We encourage you to complete the collection of evidence phase within 30 days of receiving the Verification Manual – BO107. After which the evidence will be collected and evaluated by the verification analyst.
Once the evidence has been collected the analyst assesses the evidence. The analyst determines which evidence needs to be audited and prepares a verification plan based on samples drawn from the BEE elements and communicates the Verification Plan & Schedule to you.
Once you have signed off the Verification Plan BEE Online will conduct On-Site verification which will consist of the following:
- Client Briefing – BEE Online will start off with an on-site client briefing to introduce the team and resolve any last minute issues or questions.
- Verification of each Element – BEE Online will then verify each element required in the codes according to the verification plan.
- Exit Briefing – Once BEE Online has completed the on-site verification, a final meeting with your management to discuss any issues and further actions to be taken.
On completion of the On-Site Verification the Verification Manager audits the client file to ensure compliance to SANAS R47, the BEE Codes of Good Practice and our internal standards and procedures.
Only after all these requirements have been checked will BEE Online provide a report of its verification findings. You will have 30 days to appeal or query any result of the Verification. Should an organisation wish to appeal a decision by BEE Online, they should immediately contact the Managing Director to lodge an appeal. BEE Online has an independent appeals procedure that would automatically be invoked under these circumstances. This procedure can be downloaded from our website (www.beeonline.co.za). An appeal must be lodged with BEE Online within 1 month of the incident.
Should there be no appeals or once any issues surrounding the verification have been addressed, BEE Online will issue you a final B-BBEE Verified Scorecard and Certificate.
